Blood Pressure

California: "My name is George Gifford. I am 43 years old. Overweight (255 lbs., 5'11"), and was taking two medications a day for high blood pressure; a diuretic; potassium to offset the diuretic; one anti-depressant; one medication for my acid reflux; and one to treat high cholesterol. Over the past 15 years, I have had numerous bladder infections and prostatitis.

"When I started on the Hallelujah Diet, November 26, 2000, I decided, without my doctor's consultation, to discontinue ALL my medications. This may have been very hazardous and foolish; however, that's what I did. Very early in the morning on December 11th [two weeks after starting on the Hallelujah Diet], I awoke in a panic as my bladder was emptying in bed. Very humiliating and scary, to say the least. I took the day off and went to the Doc's.

"I had lost 15 pounds since starting on the diet and they were amazed. My blood pressure was the best it had been in 12 years and they were additionally amazed when I told them that I had discontinued all my medications. I described what I was doing with the diet and the doctor took me off ALL MEDICATIONS except the cholesterol medication. He said that since my body was apparently healing itself he could assume that there was an abundance of cholesterol being dispelled into my bloodstream and that the medication would help my body dispense with the excess.

"He said that he will have some blood work done on me soon and he anticipates that I will be off that medication also in a month or two, if not sooner. About wetting the bed, he said that he thinks that my body was having a 'healing crisis' and that things are starting to work correctly that had not been for a long time. They did all the tests regarding my bladder and found nothing to be concerned about.

"When I started on the Hallelujah Diet, I experienced headaches for the first three to four days, but I have had no headaches whatsoever since! Nor have I been hungry! I have no sugar cravings (I used to drink 3-6 Cokes a day)! Have had no need for heartburn medicine, whereas I used to eat Rolaids everyday, along with my acid-reflux medicine! I no longer need coffee as I have more energy than I can ever remember having!

"My mind is clear and I can think better than I have ever been able to! Everyone at work is noticing the changes. My family is amazed I am finally showing discipline in my diet. My wife and sister say that they are going to make the lifestyle change to the Hallelujah Diet after New Years! I cannot tell you how grateful I am that a pastor friend pointed me to your Web site!"

Barbara Alexander, a student in our new correspondence program, the Hallelujah Acres School of Natural Health: "Hello Dr. Malkmus, there are so many things I want to tell you about my transition to the Hallelujah Diet and Lifestyle. As of September 2, 1999 I no longer take blood pressure medicine, and since changing to the Hallelujah Diet on December 28, 1998 I have lost 33 pounds. My skin is smoother; no more pimples; my hair is growing again; my ankles and hands are no longer swollen and my friends and family are just amazed at my commitment to better health. I share the Hallelujah principles with all who will listen. Until reading the information on your Web site, I had no idea that I was the main cause of my declining health. But no more!!!! Praise God! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CALL TO THE WORLD--YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SICK! I am currently reading GOD'S WAY TO ULTIMATE HEALTH. I am so excited to read this book and gain new information in preparation for my Certificate in Natural Health."

This first testimony comes from Joy Clifton: "I am a medical transcriptionist. I know how sick people are in this world. I got on this [Hallelujah Diet] about two weeks ago to stop my blood sugars from reaching diabetic levels. I had blood sugar levels as high as 171. Since going on this plan two weeks ago, it is down to 115, after drinking diluted carrot juice. Before going on the diet, my blood pressure was 158/85 with a pulse rate of 85-90. Since going on the Hallelujah Diet, my blood pressure is down to 125/65, with a pulse rate of 69. I will soon have to get off my blood pressure pill. I have also lost 26 pounds. I thank God for this plan, and am very excited. Can't wait to go to the heart doctor, I know he will take me off my medicine. I feel great!"

John Taylor, senior pastor, Lafayette Alliance Church in New York: "This is another note of praise to add to your files of thanks for your unusual ministry of health to the Body [of Christ]. A friend sent me a copy of 'Why Christians Get Sick.' After reading it, I realized what a great set of truths it contained. I then sent for the book 'God's Way to Ultimate Health,' that was even a greater blessing. I have been on the veggie [Hallelujah] diet for about a month now, and have already seen dramatic results.

Pastor Taylor continues: "I'm a diabetic, had high blood sugar counts, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high poundage. [Since going on the Hallelujah Diet], I have lost about fifteen lbs., lowered my [blood] sugar count from 237 to 115 in seven days, and lowered my blood pressure from 175/87 to 129/64 in about two weeks. I walk a couple of miles every morning and then work out on my health rider for a half-hour.

In conclusion, Pastor Taylor writes: "I have been a pastor for over forty years, and have always battled the results of a bad diet. My mother died of a heart condition, my father died of complications from diabetes and cancer, my older brother died of lung cancer, and I decided enough was enough. I am so thankful for your ministry and the help that it is giving to so many. I would like information on your Health Ministry. There are so many folks in my church that need help with their health and I would like to help them."

Chris Ebaugh writes from Michigan: "I found out about the Hallelujah Diet from a co-worker who shared your newsletter Four months ago I went on the Hallelujah Diet and have since lost 51 pounds. When I made the diet change, my liver was not functioning properly and my enzyme levels were above 400 (50 is normal). At that time, my cholesterol levels were 302 and my blood pressure was 180/160. I was concerned that at 47 years of age I would not live longer than my father who died of a sudden heart attack at 53. On my mother's side, there had been deaths due to liver cancer.

Chris continues: "Since going on the Hallelujah Diet in October 1999 my liver enzymes have dropped to 65 (almost normal), and all the associated pain is gone. My cholesterol is down to 178 and my blood pressure is almost normal without the aid of medication. I feel the Hallelujah Diet has saved my life and I am now a huge promoter of this lifestyle. I would like information on how to become a Health Minister so I can tell my part of the world."
